Camping at Tensleep Brewing

When I asked Jeremy if he'd rather brave a difficult road to camp on BLM land overlooking a canyon near Bighorn National Park or stay at Ten Sleep Brewing to sip beer under the stars, the choice was obvious.

Ten Sleep Brewing had been one of Jeremy's most anticipated stops on our sabbatical road trip. So, when we learned a day before our arrival that the brewery would be closed for the season, we were crushed. I reached out to the owner, hopeful for a workaround. To our surprise, she offered to open the brewery just for us.

When we arrived, we called her, and she directed us to a campsite across a wide, grassy field. "Settle in, then come on down, and I'll serve you," she said. True to her word, she met us at the brewery and served us two flights of beer while the sun sank behind a towering red rock mountain. The light softened into amber hues, painting the surrounding landscape as Jeremy launched his drone to capture sweeping views of the other side of the Rockies.

The brewery was ours for the night. Before darkness fully descended, we gave the dogs a good fetch session to tire them out. Dinner was an eclectic smattering—what we lovingly call "girl dinner"—a spread of chicken tenders, carrots, raspberries, pickles, chips, and salsa.

The peace of the evening, the quiet howl of wind, and the cool beer in hand left us deeply content. Under the expansive Wyoming stars, sleep came easily.
