Winter Cabin Getaway in Truckee, CA

The small mountain town of Truckee holds a dear place in our hearts. Not only is it the place where Jeremy proposed, but it lacks the congested streets from tourism that plague its neighbor city, Lake Tahoe, and keeps the small town charm all to itself. During the summer, the nearby trails and rivers are teeming with life and outdoor activities. However, in the winter, the mountain is covered in a heavy downy blanket of snow and all is still and quiet. The icy blockade keeps most from venturing out far, preferring the cozy hibernation of sitting by the fire. It is our annual tradition to take a winter cabin weekend Truckee getaway. It’s a time for us to relax and celebrate our friendship with our closest friends.

The perfect snow day begins with a good hearty breakfast.

As the whole house begins to stir, the smell of bacon and cinnamon wafts into the loft style cabin, beckoning all to the table.

All around the table smiles and laughter are washed down with coffee and OJ. Bacon is passed around in second and third helpings until nothing is left but a greasy pan. After all the food is gone, it is time to soak the dishes and get ready for the day.

The snow calls to us to come out and play. Sledding and snow ball fights, snow angels and snow kisses. We stay out until our cheeks turn rosy and we can no longer feel our feet.

Inside is for napping by the fire, hot cocoa with friends, and games around the table.
